I've had so many horrific doctor appts. now that I find going to the dentist soothing by comparison. And I LOVE my dentist. When I told him not to bother "pre-numbing" the area where they usually inject pain-numbing drugs for cavity filling, because I hate it when the numb wears off, he said, "Well, let's try it without numbing you at all--if you get uncomfortable, say so and we'll stop and numb." So that's what we did, and it worked perfectly for my last couple of cavities, and I walked out of there with my face unbothered!!

Having any medical professional who actually talks through a procedure with you and treats you like a thinking, feeling, actual, person, is rare, and those professionals are worth their weight in rubies.
