I advocate for people to buy books all the time at a different site, but that's because as a former librarian and editor and indexer, I KNOW when a book is high quality (and often enjoyable). I'm within my subject area of expertise, and I want authors who are doing good work to be able to sell their books. But I just don't feel good telling people to subscribe to Medium. A lot of that is that I'm not overfond of the subscription model that is all the rage these days.
