I agree with all of your points here and am distressed to find things are following a similar trajectory worldwide. Like the UK, do you have socialized health care in Australia? I know that is not what it used to be, but I would have hoped that would better your overall financial picture. I guess not.
I'm Gen X too and I think plenty of our members are mad, but we're a small generation, and like any other generation, the 20% of them who have all the money and call all the shots ARE voting for the status quo. Small generation with 20% skimmed off the top voting against wealth re-distribution at every turn--it's hard to combat that.
It's so sad and ridiculous how it turns us all against each other too. I'm annoyed by the whole idea of this "wealth transfer" as a valid idea--when your economic system partially depends on what group of people just waiting for another group of people to die--that's not very nice.
