I agree with your points.

But to say "they got what they wanted" and to wash your hands of a situation does not really solve the situation.

I don't know all the reasons people would show up and agitate FOR Uber. Maybe desperation. Maybe at one point it was good, flexible money. What people want can also change, and we can't expect everyone to understand the machinations corporations go through to extract money at every point in the game. Only a few evil people always think that way, how can I extract money from every single aspect of this event? Most people do not think that way--and can't really be blamed for not knowing that the corporations do.
