I am Catholic but this kind of debate is where I usually lose all interest in Catholicism or Christianity. I mean, we know the Bible has been through about a million translators, right? And many times translators have their own agendas, right? So who's to say this statement wasn't closer to "my way is the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through living the way I do"? That's actually not that far off the words as given here.
I believe in Jesus. I believe in the example he set. But I have never been a Bible literalist and I kind of thought Catholicism was a better fit for me because it included works as well as faith, tradition as well as exact Bible quotes.
