I don't really know what I'd be doing on Substack if I didn't expect to make money there, and I think that would necessitate pestering people to spend money on me, right?

I really liked this model of pay for access to tons of publications, read what you like, split it up between writers. In retrospect the decline of Medium makes total sense--too good to be true.
