I don't think the Millennials were expecting it as much as the moneyed classes (who don't want any of us to understand the economics of the system, lest we start rebelling against the top 10%) were trying to sell us this story of, don't worry that you have no money now, someday you'll inherit some.

For the record my parents' money is their money and I never expected/expect a penny of it. That doesn't mean Mom wants the money she worked so hard to amass to all go to the ruling corporate class. And if I thought the caregivers in the system were making anywhere near what they deserve, I'd feel better about it. But I know it's mostly going to corporate management, shareholder profits, private equity coffers, etc.
