I enjoy rants and this is a very fine one!

Medium doesn't owe us anything. Ev Williams doesn't owe us anything. Jeff Bezos doesn't owe us anything. Mark Zuckerberg doesn't owe us anything.

It just hit me one day that I don't want to owe these people anything either. I don't owe them my personal information. I don't owe them growing their platform for them. I don't owe them loyalty of any kind.

It's an okay platform. There's a lot of super nice people here. But it's the product of a man who helped create the social media that a lot of Silicon Valley higher-ups now try to keep their kids away from, and it's driven by an algorithm that same person won't share any details about, right down to how you're paid, which is pretty basic information. Why hide it?

I support your right to defend this platform and person. They don't really need you to, but as noted, if that's your feel you should feel it.
