I feel like your spouse is lucky to have you, it sounds like you are really trying to think about what makes them communicate the way they do.

Getting overwhelmed/being introverted can definitely lead to communication issues that don't look at all like you might think they should. I am totally introverted and even though I don't tend to interrupt in conversations where I don't know people as well--I am prone to blurting out way too much information. You'd think if I was nervous/over-analyzing I wouldn't do that, but it's because I'm nervous that I do!
