I feel that way (like I'm in the wrong group of people) whenever they start telling one another "you're amazing." That said, I like that you still have your good sense of humor after living through what you did. You're amazing.
(You know I had to say that.)
I never, ever say that I think things happen for a reason, because I don't actually believe that. But I do believe this is simply the lay of the land and it all goes into being human. It has been a lifelong process for me to witness so many things that I thought were strengths--to also be weaknesses, simply because they occur in a different time or context.
I am sorry that you and your wife and your familiy had to experience that. I know that doesn't help but I do feel deep pity for all humans, in general. I'm not sure why so many peoples' experiences have to be so hard. It's a mystery.
