I hadn't thought of it being an umbrella term. I guess that would make sense, everybody mostly forgets about Gen X, so maybe we do just get lumped in with Boomers.

There's always some danger of not being able to relate; different stages of life do that to people. For myself, though, I'm trying to learn from younger and older people I know who seem to be "timeless"--good conversationalists and empathetic people who seem to transcend these generational habits.
