I love the physical act of reading a book, though, it's so much better than the Internet. I also liked the finite nature of books--you could take in a bookstore, or a library. You knew you weren't going to read all the books in them, but it felt like knowledge was something that you could acquire and master--now it's just endless clicks and you're never at the end of the (mostly) bad news and it's all just a lot!

Thanks for the kind comment. I am no longer responsible for the day to day care of my mother, so I am hoping to find my way back to the reading train. I would happily read to her, but she doesn't like that. Her dementia is such that she's just mad she can't work in the garden all day and nothing else will substitute. I'll keep trying, though.
