I think there are places where the social safety net is a bit stronger, so people have a bit more time to parent and do other things (other places seem to have a lot more vacation, which can also help you be more flexible in your schedules).

Not only do we all age, but many of us (some of the scary poor health and cancer numbers among Gen X and millennials notwithstanding) might age longer, and live with more debilitating conditions like dementia. It's going to be a wild ride.
