I thought this at first too and I'm not convinced it isn't the reason--but I was trying to be fair and give the benefit of the doubt that they were trying to use a more inclusive term. But at the same time I want them to realize that just being "inclusive" in their boilerplate doesn't mean it's happening in practice, for a variety of reasons.
