I totally agree with you.

I just got a charge out of all the "JD Vance has CHANGED and now he's horrible" articles. Not much nuance there. I'm like, really? He hasn't really changed, his first book definitely had that air of "I pulled myself up by my bootstraps, now you can do" about it.

I still say Sarah Smarsh's "Heartland" or Brian Alexander's "Glass House" are better books about the working and/or rural poor.
