I used to enjoy hailing cabs because I knew there was a little higher barrier to entry (via the medallion system, etc.) and that made me feel better about my safety.

But you’re right. People want cheap, cheap, cheap. And also convenient (for them). All other considerations go out the window. It’s so disappointing.
