I'm wrong a lot so your hope will probably work out!
I respect your opinion and your hope but I disagree. Our systems are actually very much there and working just fine for the moneyed class, say the top 20% or so. I do agree with you that most people have apathy or dislike for the government, but in no way do they think corporations have failed. Unless you are independently wealthy or your "small business" is Amazon or Microsoft, trust me, many people are still going along with corporate employment to keep access to health insurance and care for their families.
We could have had nice things. But nobody wants to pay taxes for them, and nobody wants to share. A people who don't want to pay what things are worth, who don't want to share, and whose idea of utter deprivation is covid lockdown when they couldn't wantonly travel for a few months...those people are not going to become farmers. I'm sorry. I just don't see it happening.
