Imagine twenty years later--and a pandemic in between, which somehow seems to have accelerated all ignorance and love of ignorance.
Those high schoolers were lucky to have you--someone young who was shocked by the 1/3, 2/3 cooking problem and who still just wanted to help them. Even longer ago, I was a student tutor for a 9th grade science intro class when I was in 12th grade. None of the kids understood what fractions were--that the fraction/dividing line in 1/2 meant 1 divided by 2. I was appalled. The very nice science teacher coolly appraised me being appalled and said, it's important to learn about all people, isn't it? Because he knew the tutors (like me) were mostly the kids who tested well and were doing well in school. He was absolutely right.
"Minds blown." That is exactly right. Thank you for this comment.
