In my case, my mother had no idea what time of day it was or that she was unable to care for herself. She also couldn't see well with her macular degeneration. So often she just made circles around the house until she was too weary to even walk or stand safely (without falling and hitting her head on bathroom or kitchen tile). She seemed to need less sleep the more exhausted we all became, and it was impossible to focus on freelancing work for even 30 minutes because she would be telling you it was time to go pick stuff in the garden (even when there was nothing to pick) and making her laps. I never knew a job could be so demanding.
