I did not get the $500 and I have no rancor about that. Williams and Medium don't owe me anything.

What I do have rancor about is not knowing, increasingly, what algorithms and AI and social media are doing, and why. I have now read enough about the tech environment that I know that a. nobody questions tech titans (especially not tech journalists, because then they lose access) and b. from what I can see tech titans have way different priorities than I have.

It's all fine. I just really enjoy a good magazine, and that's how I thought of PS I Love You. This isn't really about me. I've tried and failed to make a living with words about 30 different ways, including working as a librarian and making hardly any money even with a master's degree, so this is just more of the same.

And I know editors and publishers have always had a product to sell. Very few of them made billions of dollars doing it, and that's why I trusted them more. Anybody who has the balls to make several billion dollars and then not the decency to hand a good chunk of it back in taxes or more fair wages to their people? Yeah, I just don't trust those people.

But I do appreciate your viewpoint and thank you very much for sharing it.
