It's not the writers--a lot of them are really good. I was born for the model where your favorite writer writes a book a year or every couple of years, and you just read and keep that.

I do try to "tip" or support writers I like as a one-off; I just really resist being roped into a subscription model, because I know how those charges can add up and start to get away from you.
