Just because they're anecdotes doesn't make them wrong. Not statistically significant, maybe, but not wrong.

I would respectfully submit that how people feel and anecdotes drive a lot more of life's enjoyment (or not) and decisions than do statistics. It's kind of like facing a medical test where you know you have a 1 in 10 chance of having cancer. Ten percent is a small risk, statistically speaking, but, anecdotally speaking, you also know someone has to be that one person in every ten, and why shouldn't it be you? It's enough to worry you to death even if it's a small chance.
