Lack of trust in science or really anything educated or organized is a big topic and only going to get bigger in the age of AI and deepfakes. Too big to tackle here.

I come from people who are very responsible and quite intelligent and made their living farming, which I could never do, and yet among some of them is a distrust of "experts," including science experts. To some extent I was simply trying to illustrate, look, you might wholeheartedly believe everything scientists tell you, you might not, but that is all BESIDE THE POINT. The climate is now so wacky that all you have to do to feel it, literally, is to go outside.

I'd also like to point out that we are all going to have to work together to respond to these problems, whether we all agree with or like one another or not. If you don't like scientists but you're prepared to tax the shit out of billionaires and also drive less and not get on planes yourself, I will work with you, even if you tell me you "don't trust scientists."
