Of course you are right, in all your points in this response.

My bad-tempered comment came from an ugly place in my caregiving soul that is tired of caring for other people's (and my) bodies endlessly and meanwhile all this is going on in the background.

My plea goes out to everyone, little boys and big boys and protestors who take guns with them and cops and thieves and those who think defending their property gives them the right to shoot people:

STOP shooting people.

Stop SHOOTING people.

Stop shooting PEOPLE.

For the love of all that's holy could we all just stop shooting people for two minutes.

It is HARD to fix people's broken bodies. There's plenty of that coming for all of us as our population ages and our kids sicken from the climate and chemicals.

Please just stop shooting people.

It's not intellectual but that's all the anaylsis I've got tonight.
