Oh, Aviator, I am so sorry to hear this. I am sorry for what I can hear was a long painful experience for all parties.

I am also sorry these articles/discussions always tends to the solution you describe. I understand where the thinking comes from but that is also not always so easy. Your spouse may have a different opinion, and it may not be so easy to enact.

I don't know how to do it, but I wish we coudl instead leverage our frustrations with this situation into forcing revenue changes and societal structures into providing more help for people at all ends of the spectrum.
