Robert, my guess is that the editors at PSILY run the publication as one of their many editorial/writing jobs, for which they were paid a bit. Without that monetary support, as professionals, they will have to take their skills and time elsewhere so they can get paid.

Maybe PSILY could be run by volunteers. I for one think it is time for people to stop "volunteering" their editing and reading/reviewing skills. But I say that as an editorial gig worker myself. I work at least six or seven different freelance gigs, all of which give me just enough money to help pay my family's phone and other incidental bills. I do that because I am also a caregiver to my mother and children. If I was not a caregiver I'd have to quit the editorial/writing jobs I can do at home and just go get an office job somewhere so I could get health insurance (which I only currently get as long as my spouse stays employed).

So that would be my long and tedious answer on why the people currently running this pub need to be paid for it or they have to quit.

Thanks for reading, and for your response--
