See? I don't think you are the only person who finds him hilarious, and I really do think that is part of the appeal (even if you may not find him anymore). I think a lot of people forget that before he was a politician, he was around for decades as a mogul, business author, he shows up in a lot of 80s films in lighthearted cameo roles, his success on reality TV--I think for better or for worse he really understands some of the American "our business is business and we love that" psyche.

I definitely think "drain the swamp" was part of the appeal. I don't think he actually did it, but I'm certain that many people still believe D.C. is a swamp in need of draining, and he'll probably use that line again.
