Shannon,
That is just so frustrating. Of course I know Medium doesn't owe anyone a living but geez, if you can have 41k followers and have brought a lot of people to this platform (which medium seems to want with its new little announcement of how "creators" can "monetize" subscribers to Medium) and you are still expected to crank out a quality article at least daily to pay any of your bills, well...
Well, that is just fucking ridiculous.
I'm not joking when I say I feel about Medium like I used to feel about men: I am not here to make myself into what they want, and I am not here to help them figure out their shit, and I am not here to put Ev Williams through med school until he can become successful and then dump me for a younger model.
Do you have an agent? You must have a sufficient platform to get someone interested in a memoir/essay collection. I mean that's a ridiculously hard way to make a living too but if Medium isn't paying the bills I can't really see anything else that it offers. How about a memoir/investigative look at undiagnosed medical problems of women, using your lipedema experiences as a framework? You could also cover endometriosis, lupus, perimenopause, horrific contraceptive side effects, all the other mostly female concerns that are totally ignored and minimized.
