Thank you for these examples--I think I'm learning why I never went in for historical biographies in a bigger way--turns out I don't want to learn/know all these things about historical figures!

People are complex. Art is complex. Only stands to reason that there would be complexity about who creates art, and how, and how we react to them and what they create.
