Thank you for this comment. It is not fair to anyone. This sort of inequity is tearing everyone apart.

This became crystal clear to me when I saw the bills involved with my children's births. Neither were overly complicated, although one was a c-section. The c-section approached $50,000 plus. As a librarian, I had been making 36 to 40 grand for a whole YEAR of work. That just does not work. My mom, on the other hand, paid a few hundred cash for most of my older siblings to be born in a hospital (where she then stayed longer than I did). A few hundred to 50 grand in 36 years? That is insane.
