I agree I tend toward the ADHD myself so this type of circular talking (or, as you say, adding a story as a type of exchange or offering) makes perfect sense to me! But you're also right in saying that we need to be aware of how it seems to other people. I'm continuing to try and work on that.

Linguists study all sorts of fascinating things. I felt really lucky to have one as a roommate for a while.
