Of course I know Mr. Biden is not speaking about my mother specifically. But if all he meant was "make it simpler," there were any number of classier ways to say that. "Simplify!" "I really want EVERYONE to understand this!" Even "Use some more 50-cent words with the 3-dollar words!"

I'm sorry, but it still seems similar like a folksy way of saying that having a uterus makes you feeble-minded, and I thought that when out with the nineteenth century.

I expect more of Mr. Biden and I don't think we should be afraid to hold him and his staff (and the New York Times, frankly) to higher standards of clear language use.
