My statement about the dumpster was overly mean, and I regret it, but it wasn't meant to be taken literally. I know it takes more than 30 minutes to clean out a room, much less a house. The overall point was, you "can't take it with you," so please don't worry about it.

You can't force your kids to be interested in your belongings. And the younger generations are definitely not interested. There may be items from the home they remember personally, but overall there are so many items in a home, you can't be sentimentally attached to all of them. This is part of the problem with the antique market these days--very few of the younger generation are interested in the history or the objects. They want tech and they want experiences, and that's where their money/interest goes.

I do not like to waste things (that's part of why I never buy things). Rest assured that when the time comes I will donate goods to anyone/any place that can reuse or resell them.
