I've never read the Louise Penny series but will definitely look into them now; thank you for that suggestion.

I TOTALLY agree that nobody does mystery series like the Brits. And they have such range! From these "gentler" (although still very clear-eyed about the nastier sides of human nature) period piece mysteries to much grittier shows like "Line of Duty" or "Luther" or "No Offence."
