I'm emphatically pro-work, which is why I usually end up anti-professional job. In my job as an engineering reference librarian I had to go to so many worthless meetings that it absolutely crushed my soul.

I could get by on a Bukowski amount of cash, but wow, tryiing to cover 20-25 grand of one's own health insurance is an absolute dealbreaker for a freelancer.
