That is so great of your kid! I wish you a speedy recovery.

Helping out after a short-term event can also be difficult, but there is nothing like the ongoing demands of long-term care. If we could have helped Mom recover from surgeries or procedures that would have been one thing--but I have never seen anything like dementia and it is humbling. It has truly (seemingly) made her impossible to help. Even visiting her daily in her Memory Care facility is not suffiicient to ease her distress at being so confused and not able to care for herself.

We expect a lot of people and families. At some point it's not going to go anymore.
