The trickiest part is that a lot of times the affluent have no idea they're applying gatekeeping tactics (some do it on purpose, but by no means all, at least in my suburb). In my area they're the most "progressive liberals" around and are offended if you suggest that money is controlling everything, particularly opportunity.
