There are so many examples of this. Writers, artists, filmmakers, sports stars, religious figures, politicians.

Their assholery may actually take away from their art--for different individuals. And that's okay too. But if you are going to continue to respect the art--I think you have to be honest about the whole person. "Wow, did J.D. know his way around some beautiful sentences--but he was not very nice to many of the women in his life."
