They do this to short boys too. Once at a well visit my kids' pediatrician announced, "Well, he's not going to be tall" in disapproving tones. My husband and I (who are both not tall and yet manage to be functioning members of society) thanked her for the info and told her we're aware of how genetics work, and that everything is going to be fine.

But my kid still remembers hearing what the doctor said.
