This is a very thoughtful essay. I don't see the thoughts and questions you are expressing very well here expressed many other places in the mainstream media, and that is disappointing.

You can be visual all you want. The problem comes when you think someone else's beauty or skills or brains or anything is something put on this earth just for your taking and using. Just because you find something beautiful doesn't mean you get to possess it, nor is it really healthy if that's all you want. Give thanks for beauty and honor it by treating it with the respect and gratitude it deserves.

I promise you I will do everything in my power to teach my boys this way of thinking. I may not succeed but I will try.
