I agree with everything you've said and I too am even more a minimalist than ever. I've already started to give what little jewelry I have (and never wear) to nieces and other friends. It's fun to do it in real time, I can see it get used or passed on to someone else!

I am very glad your story didn't end worse. I freely admit if I'd found a hatchet anywhere I would have stopped helping and left immediately!!
