We do not have the "society" we had twenty+ years ago. The demands on my time from needing to make money and trying to keep up with the rest of the middle class with my kids are enormous. Not to mention the enormous time-suck of dealing with the healthcare establishment on any issue--in my family, my mom's kids' spouses all have major health issues. Taking care of those issues, and mom's, and work's, and the kids'--it is not so easy anymore even to just stay in your house with someone who has dementia, which, at some point, becomes absolutely necessary 24/7.

I don't believe care homes are popular. We just have an aging population that lives longer than it used to. Several of my grandparents also had to go to the nursing home, eventually. They just didn't have as many heart meds and treatments going in that kept them as strong, as long. It's a different world out there.

Thank you so much for reading.
