Well, it seems logical that if you use your money for your elder-care needs, there would be no inheritance anyway, and she is (I'm guessing) okay with that?

It is of course your choice to have fun spending it now, and some people with no money luck into good care in care homes that accept Medicaid--but I've seen that more money can buy you slightly better care in the nursing home and it might be worth saving a bit.

It's all math problems and trying to tell the future and none of it is any fun.
