Well, sometimes. In my community most of the very wealthy people are extremely liberal, and that doesn't stop them from lining up connections and expensive educations for their kids, while blathering on about providing affordable housing (anywhere except in their neighborhood). They also do a lot of environment-damaging flying to tropical resorts where they expect truly poor people to wait on them and be grateful for the opportunity.

But you are right that people really don't appreciate laborers.
