Yes, I agree with you on this.

And actually, as stated, after living on a farm, I was ready to make this deal. I didn't need to be rich. But now it seems to be a harder deal to find/make.

I would just stop trying to find a volunteer gig for now, I wouldn't think any the worse of you. Sometimes you're just done pretending and we should be able to respect that.
