Yes! This is one of the reasons don't mind the "new math"--it's a different way to try and see what the numbers are doing, in addition to learning the old stand standard algorithm, carry the one, type math. It would be better to understand food as one of the basic building blocks of life before we get more complex with recipe planning and things like that!
