You are absolutely right.

The cost of in-home care is one problem; availability is another. Even with financial resources that originally made us think we could hire around-the-clock care so Mom could stay in her house, we literally could not find enough workers at any price to make that kind of scheduling a reality. And even when you do hire people--they have families and illnesses too, so you simply cannot count on having the shifts covered.

Everyone's plan is to "age in place." Not everyone gets to live that dream. It's all so sad, really.
