You are right on with this comment and that's why I keep writing these articles. Very few people understand until you spend that week in someone else's shoes--how impossible it can be to care for a grown adult (many of the men in my mother's facility are much taller and heavier than me and are NOT frail--I don't even know how the caregivers help or ever lift them) with this problem. My mother has no idea what time of day or year it is and thinks she was just out in her garden this morning planting--and yet she thinks she should just be able to drive home and take care of yourself. People do not understand you cannot reason with people in this stage, especially when they have very specifc ideas about how they are caring for themselves.

Sometimes you just don't have any choice. It's a problem even money can't always solve and America really doesn't know what to do with problems like that.
