You're not wrong. "Personal responsibility" and "lifestyle choices" are phrases that get used as sledgehammers for both sides, and it's a problem. Mainly because we need to stop using sledgehammers on each other, full stop.

Some jobs actually do need to be done in the middle of nowhere. Anyone who drives a car needs someone to live in a fracking field in a Dakota, or in the middle of Canada, or in Saudi Arabia. I don't know what health care is like in Saudi Arabia, but in the vast distances of the Dakotas and northern Canada and Alaska, health care is nowhere to be found. The end.

This is mainly what I need people to understand. It's not ALL because Trump voters are racist assholes. There's just a lot more history and stuff at play here.
