Yup, GenXers are currently in the trenches with their Silent Generation parents--I think a lot of us get it.

I used to be so sad when I read obituaries and a family noted things like "we fulfilled our promise that Grandma would never enter a nursing home." Sometimes it was worded like that and sometimes it was worded in a way that made you know a lot of sacrifices were made to keep that promise. I understanding wanting help from your family--but I hope never to extract such a promise from mine.
